Field guide

• Scrawl, a clawed gremlin. Hunts in packs, takes turns attacking and dodges your aim.
• Zip, a one-eyed spider. Fast, fragile, and it pounces. From page 2.
• Spitter, a toad that finds a firing spot and swells its ink sac before it spits. Block with the knife to send it back. From page 3.
• Smudge, an eraser golem. It stomps, then charges. Sidestep it into a wall and it is stunned and takes extra damage. From page 4.
• Head Smudge turns up every fifth page. Jump its ground slam. At half health it calls for help.
• Scribbles hunt by sight and sound, lose track of you behind cover, and run when badly hurt, then come back furious. Eye-shots do 1.6× damage.

Kit

• Craft knife (4) slashes everything in front of you. Hold aim to block, and blocked ink flies back at the Spitter.
• Edge gauge fills with kills, slashes and blocks. When it's full, F dashes through a line of scribbles.
• Ink pots splash everything nearby. Carry three; you get one back each page.
• Map sketch shows every scribble on a mini-map for 30 seconds.
